The
Indiana University School of Public Health - Bloomington
(SPH-B) invites applications for a tenure-track/tenured
faculty position in the Department of Kinesiology
to serve within the sport management faculty group.
Applicants at the associate or full professor rank are a
priority, although all ranks are welcome to apply. We
seek individuals passionate about our mission to promote
sport, as a salient component of our social fabric,
culture, and well-being, for all members of society
through excellence in research, impactful teaching and
mentoring, and meaningful service to the university,
profession, and the community. This 10‐month
appointment would ideally start August 1, 2025, although
an earlier or later start date is negotiable.

Overview:
A member of the prestigious Association of American
Universities (AAU) since 1909, Indiana University
Bloomington prides itself in offering outstanding
academics grounded in contemporary educational

life. The SPH-B, located in the heart of campus, is
comprised of over 200 faculty across five departments
and is one of the most diverse faculties of any school
of public health in the nation, with 39% of current
tenure-track/tenured faculty being scholars from
traditionally underrepresented minority groups. In 2022
and 2023, Indiana University Bloomington was honored
with the Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award.
Continuing the momentum of hiring over 40 outstanding
tenure-track/tenured faculty over the last two years,
the SPH-B is launching another wave of faculty
recruitment.
The
Department of Kinesiology recently celebrated its 75th
Anniversary and has consistently been highly ranked by
the National Academy of Kinesiology. The Kinesiology
faculty is a talented, productive, and collegial team,
united by a shared interest in creating and translating
knowledge in sport management, and human movement
science and practice. Our sport management faculty
conduct research within the primary areas of sport
marketing, management, and communication. With
Kinesiology being one of the largest departments at
Indiana University Bloomington, our faculty educate,
mentor, and serve ~2,900 students enrolled in our BS,
MS, and PhD degree programs. The Department of
Kinesiology has effective collaborations with other
departments in the SPH-B and other units at Indiana
University.

Qualifications: Candidates must hold a doctoral degree
in Kinesiology, sport management, or a closely related
field from an accredited educational institution. A firm
commitment to the role of diversity and inclusion in all
aspects of research, education and service is essential.
A successful candidate must demonstrate a record of
research and scholarly achievement appropriate for rank.
Candidates should have teaching experience, preferably
at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Good
interpersonal skills, effective communication skills,
and the ability to work cooperatively and congenially
within a diverse faculty are essential.

Responsibilities and Opportunity: The Department of
Kinesiology at Indiana University invites applicants who

mission by developing and/or maintaining a robust
research program; teaching and mentoring students at the

to sport management will be considered, candidates with
research expertise in AI and related analytics are
especially encouraged to apply. This position is located
on the Indiana University Bloomington campus, and
successful candidates are expected to work on the
Bloomington campus to allow full engagement with the
department, school, campus, and community. Indiana

recommendations upon performance in three areas
including research, teaching, and service. All

to excel in research and provide strong performance in
teaching and service.
