Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of
Epidemiology
The Department of
Epidemiology (http://epidemiology.phhp.ufl.edu/)
at the University of Florida is recruiting a full-time
(1.0 FTE), 12-month tenure or non-tenure track infectious
disease epidemiology faculty member at the Assistant,
Associate or Professor level. This is an exciting
opportunity to join a growing department that has
expertise in cutting edge areas including substance use
and HIV, genetic epidemiology, cancer epidemiology,
psychiatric epidemiology, data science/AI, and infectious
and chronic disease epidemiology.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to
excellence in teaching, mentoring, and research conducted
in infectious disease epidemiology joining a dynamic
academic health center environment. We are specifically
interested in recruiting a faculty member who can extend
our existing expertise in HIV epidemiology to other areas
of infectious disease epidemiology. Further, we are
looking for a future faculty member who has advanced
epidemiology methodological skills including but not
limited to surveillance analytic approaches, agent-based
models, or spatial/cluster analyses. The successful
candidate will be expected to contribute both
collaboratively and independently to externally funded
research. Applicants seeking a tenure-track appointment
will be expected to be principal investigators of
extramurally funded research projects. Applicants seeking
a non-tenure track faculty will be expected to contribute
to collaborative research as co-investigators. In
addition, the successful candidate will be expected to
teach courses that support the epidemiology and public
health programs, as well as contribute to service through
student mentorship and committee service.
Qualifications: The position requires a
doctoral degree in epidemiology or a related field. For
senior hires, a record of academic accomplishments,
scholarly recognition, external research support, and
leadership responsibilities to warrant appointment at the
level of professor or associate professor is essential.
For hires at the assistant professor level, potential to
develop such a record should be demonstrated.
UF Epidemiology: The Department of
Epidemiology is strategically situated within the College
of Public Health and Health Professions (PHHP) and the
College of Medicine. Faculty
members are jointly appointed to create synergies and
collective strength, resulting in a competitive research
profile and highly trained students who receive
exceptional exposure to diverse expertise. Faculty
also benefit from affiliation with the highly successful
Emerging Pathogens Institute through expanded
collaborative opportunities. Our faculty and students have
received numerous national awards in research and
mentoring and are committed to excellence in training. The
department offers a PhD and Master of Science in
Epidemiology, as well as an epidemiology concentration in
the MPH program. It is also home to two National
Institutes of Health training grants. Faculty members
receive both research and teaching support provided by our
college level research core for grant development and
submission as well as the instructional design team for
course development and delivery.
