Assistant/Associate Professor of
Population Health
DEPARTMENT:
Department of Population Health, School of Health Sciences
Hofstra University, a private,
nonsectarian, co-educational institution, is seeking
qualified applicants for a full-time, tenure-track
Assistant or Associate Professor faculty position in the
Department of Population Health. The successful candidate
will join a vibrant BS in Health Science program to engage
in scholarship, teach, and serve internal and external
communities alongside a multi-disciplinary faculty and a
diverse student body with a deep commitment to enhancing
social justice.

Hofstra’s BS in Health Science program is
designed to prepare and support students interested in a
broad range of clinical health care professions including
medicine, dentistry, nursing, nutrition, physician
assistant studies, and clinical research.

This undergraduate program integrates a
comprehensive health core grounded in the concepts of
wellness, health promotion and disease prevention; a
science core designed to meet all the prerequisite course
requirements for application to medical school or other
clinical study programs; a grounding in research methods
and design; and an underlying liberal arts core that
encourages critical thinking and facilitates overall
personal growth and development.

The
Department of Population Health is a dynamic community
with over 700 students, 350 undergraduate students in
Community Health and Health Science,
and
another 400 graduate students in our three graduate
programs: Master of Public Health, Master of Health
Administration, and Master
of
Science in Health Informatics. The Department of
Population Health resides in the School of Health
Sciences, along with three other departments: Allied
Health and Kinesiology; Counseling and Mental Health
Professions and Speech, Language, Hearing Sciences. Thus,
there are many exciting opportunities for
inter-professional collaboration.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
♦
Candidates must hold a PhD, DrPH, or MD by
August 1, 2025, in Public Health, Health Policy, Global
Health, Sociomedical Sciences, Epidemiology,
Biostatistics, Environmental Health Sciences, or closely
related population health disciplines (includes, but are
not limited to, Political Science, Psychology, Public
Policy, and Sociology).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Preference will be given to candidates with
an established record or demonstrated potential for
collaborative scholarly activity, teaching excellence, and
mentoring students. Successful candidates will have
demonstrated a commitment to promoting equity, diversity
and inclusion in an educational environment.
