The Hollings Cancer Center (HCC), a National Cancer
Institute-designated cancer center, and the Department of
Public Health Sciences in the
College of Medicine at the Medical University of South
Carolina (MUSC) are excited to announce an opening for a
Cancer Epidemiologist who will join the Cancer Control Program
and the Department of Public Health Sciences. Investigators
with training in epidemiology whose focus is on understanding
the molecular and/or genomic underpinnings of cancer
initiation, progression, and survival is a priority.
Appointment at all faculty ranks are being considered.
The HCC has
state-of-the-art clinical, research and shared resource
facilities. There are currently 125 HCC cancer scientists
holding a portfolio of more than $43M in extramural cancer
research funding. The scientific mission of the Cancer
Control Program is to foster population-based research that
will lead to a reduction in cancer morbidity and mortality
regionally and nationally; tobacco control and cancer health
disparities are the thematic foci of the program. MUSC is
also a recipient of the NIH Clinical and Translational Science
Award.
Applicants must
have a PhD or MD with a strong record of research
accomplishments and peer-reviewed publications. Successful
candidates will be expected to maintain a vigorous,
nationally-recognized research program in cancer prevention
and control. Based on programmatic fit and interest of the
candidate, an appointment in an appropriate home department
will be made. The HCC will offer competitive start-up funding
and access to state-of-the-art core facilities.
Applicants
should submit electronic copies of their CV and a brief (1-2
pages) research statement. No letters of reference are
requested, but candidates should include the names and contact
