Job Description

The International Epidemiology Institute (IEI) is seeking a Research Associate to join a small, elite team of cancer epidemiologists, statisticians and other investigators in our Rockville, Maryland office.  The position will entail assisting study investigators with multiple aspects of conducting epidemiologic research studies, primarily prospective and retrospective cancer cohort studies, such as the Southern Community Cohort Study (www.southerncommunitystudy.org), and the Atomic and Nuclear Energy Workers Study (www.anewstudy.org), among others.  The position will provide opportunities for mentoring by epidemiologists, database specialists and project managers, and would be an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in population-based medical research.  This position is a two-year contract position, with possibility for an extension based on funding.

Requirements:

Successful candidates should have at least a bachelor’s degree in biology, genetics, statistics, health sciences, or related fields. Self-direction, strong written and oral communication skills, and exceptional organizational skills are essential. Proficiency in using database software (Access, SAS) is desired. The ideal candidate would have a strong interest in population based medical research.

Timeframe:

The position is available starting immediately.
