Position Summary
The Indiana University School of Public Health-Bloomington
invites applications for a Research Associate with strong
administrative and collaborative skills to join a team of
researchers focused on rigor, reproducibility, and
transparency in the obesity, nutrition, or aging research
domains.
The selected candidate will work with Dean David B. Allison
and other faculty and researchers within the School of Public
Health-Bloomington. This position presents unique
opportunities for gaining project management experience and
working on internationally impactful projects with a dynamic
interdisciplinary team.
The term of appointment is one year, with the potential for
renewal by mutual agreement. The candidate is expected to
begin March 11, 2024, but may be flexible. Applications
received by February 28, 2023, will receive full
consideration, but applications will be accepted until the
position is filled. The salary and benefits are competitive
and include funding for conference-related participation and
continuing education courses. During the period of the
fellowship, the fellow is expected to work on campus.
This position requires administrative skills to ensure the
optimal research outcome and the most efficient use of time
and resources. The primary duties that the Research Associate
will be responsible for:
Program Management

Organizing and managing visiting scholars, events, and
grant writing sessions.

Grant and project management.
|
|
♦ |
Promoting record-keeping practices to ensure detailed
records of all research publications, including their
compliance status with the NIH public access policy, are
maintained.

Assisting with hiring and onboarding of personnel.
|
|
♦ |
Preparing training materials to ensure all members of the
research team understand the requirements of the NIH
public access policy. Coordinating the deposit of raw data
and code needed to reproduce the results of publications.

Collaborate with investigators to prepare presentations or
reports of studies procedures, results, and conclusions. |
Compliance
|
♦ |
Reviewing NIH public access policy updates, Data Use
Agreements, and arranging Institutional Review Board (IRB)
approvals.
|

Evaluating all research publications to ensure they are
compliant with the NIH public access policy, the
stipulations of relevant Data Use Agreements, and the
requirements of clinicaltrials.gov. |
Basic Qualifications:
|
♦ |
Degree: Applicants holding a Master’s in Public Affairs
with strong administrative skills.
|
|
♦ |
Experience: At least four years of experience in
managerial positions in governmental or academic settings.
|
|
♦ |
Communication skills: Excellent written and spoken
communication skills are essential.
|
|
♦ |
Social skills: Good collaborative skills, ability to work
well
with various
scientists from different educational and demographic
backgrounds, and grace under pressure are all essential. |
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal,
and written communication skills. Ability to multi-task
and work well with multidisciplinary teams. Ability to
work in an inclusive manner with people of diverse
cultures. Must work well in high stress environment.
