This is a state-funded tenure-track position with
a 9-months appointment. The successful candidate

The Fielding School of
Public Health is located on the main UCLA campus

and professional schools (Medicine, Dentistry,
Nursing, and the College of Letters and Science)
offering shared resources. The UCLA community as a
whole has a strong history of and commitment to
interdisciplinary research and collaboration. The
Department also has strong research and training
relationship with the Los Angeles County
Department of Public Health as well as with
national and international institutions.
Successful candidates
must have a doctoral degree (PhD, ScD, MD, DrPH or
equivalent) in Epidemiology, Public Health,
Population Health Science or a related field, a
strong track record of teaching and training of
undergraduate and graduate students, and a
demonstrated commitment to epidemiology and public
health. Salary will be commensurate with the
candidate's experience and qualifications.
Candidates should
submit a cover letter expressing their interest in
the position, a curriculum vitae, a two-page
teaching statement summarizing experience in
undergraduate and graduate teaching at the
university level that includes a description of
pedagogical approaches used, a description of
previous research , and a statement summarizing
past or potential contributions to diversity, as
well as the names and contact information for
three professional references online to:
https://apptrkr.com/4792993.
If available,
candidates also should submit links to
documentation of teaching excellence such as
instructional or assessment materials developed by
the candidate, summaries of student ratings of
instruction, reports based on peer classroom
observations, instructional video segments from
previous courses taught, and any other materials
candidates feel would assist the search committee
with an evaluation of their application.
Review of applications
will begin on January 1st, 2024 and continue until
the position is filled. To ensure consideration,
applications must be submitted by January 1st,
2024. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2024.
Informal inquiries may be submitted to
mailto:episearch@ph.ucla.edu.
We value candidates
whose experience in teaching, research, or
community service has prepared them to contribute
to our commitment to diversity and excellence.
Women and underrepresented minorities are
encouraged to apply.
The University of
California is committed to creating and
maintaining a community dedicated to the
advancement, application, and transmission of
knowledge and creative endeavors through academic
excellence, where all individuals who participate
in University programs and activities can work and
learn together in a safe and secure environment,
free of violence, harassment, bullying and other
demeaning behavior, discrimination, exploitation,
or intimidation. With this commitment as well as a
commitment to addressing all forms of academic
misconduct, UCLA conducts targeted employment
reference checks for finalists to whom departments
or other hiring units would like to extend formal
offers of appointment into Academic Senate faculty
positions. The targeted employment reference
checks involve contacting the finalists' current
and prior places of employment to ask whether
there have been substantiated findings of
misconduct that would violate the University's
Faculty Code of Conduct. To implement this
process, UCLA requires all applicants for Academic
Senate faculty positions to complete, sign, and
upload the form entitled "Authorization to Release
Information" into RECRUIT as part of their
application. If the applicant does not include the
signed authorization to release information with
the application materials, the application will be
considered incomplete. As with any incomplete
application, the application will not receive
further consideration. Although all applicants for
faculty recruitments must complete the entire
application, only finalists (i.e., those to whom
the department or other hiring unit would like to
extend a formal offer) considered for Academic
Senate faculty positions will be subject to
targeted employment reference checks.
