The Department of Public Health in the School of Health Sciences & Practice at the New York Medical College invites applications for a faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor (with promotion potential to a higher rank) level to teach epidemiologic methods courses at the graduate level starting Fall Semester 2018. 

The selected candidate will be expected to teach innovative and fully integrated models of research and practice in both an online and on-campus format and, to participate in research and scholarship, advise and mentor students, and participate in faculty citizenship.

NYMC is located on a suburban campus, within 30 miles from the one of the world’s largest, most diverse, and exciting cities in the world.  Opportunities are available to collaborate with more than 10 local health departments, as well as health-care facilities, government agencies, and NGOs in the region.  In addition, the campus also has opportunities for numerous collaborative efforts.  Faculty are collaborating with programs in our Centers of Excellence in Disability and Health, Long-term Care, Disaster Medicine, Children’s Environmental Health, and other academic departments in the Schools of Health Sciences and Practice, Basic Medical Science, and Medicine, along with the recently created Touro University College of Dental Medicine. 

Candidates must have a doctoral degree in Epidemiology or a related field. Successful candidates should have strong quantitative skills and proficiency in SAS and will be expected to develop an externally-funded research program. 

The Department of Public Health is a newly aligned unit that consists of MPH programs in Health Policy & Management, Environmental Health, Epidemiology, and Behavioral Sciences & Health Promotion.  The Department also offers an MS in Biostatistics, and a DrPH with an emphasis in Health Policy & Management.  The Department is one of three in the School of Health Sciences & Practice.  Other departments are Physical Therapy and Speech Language Pathology.

New York Medical College, founded in 1860, is one of the nation’s oldest private medical and health sciences educational institutions. Since 2011, the College has been a member of the Touro College and University System.
