The
Department of Surgery and Department of Public Health Sciences
at the University of California, Davis, School of Medicine
seeks to recruit a full-time academic epidemiology position at
the rank of either Associate or Full Professor in the Regular
(Ladder) or In Residence series depending on experience and
qualifications.
he
selected candidate will be the Senior Health Sciences
Epidemiologist and Director of the Department of Surgery
Outcomes Research Group (ORG). The individual will work
closely within the Departments of Surgery and Public Health
Sciences, and collaborate with research centers including the
UC Davis Clinical and Translational Sciences Center, the UC
Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Center for Healthcare
Policy and Research, the Institute for Population Health
Improvement, Precision Medicine Center and others. The
individual will lead the efforts to advance scholarship and
practice related to surgical healthcare access, quality,
costs, delivery and equity, surgical disease prevention and
screening, as well as applied and clinical epidemiology. The
successful candidate will have substantial opportunities for
interdisciplinary collaboration and will be expected to
leverage the strengths of UC Davis in comparative
effectiveness research, dissemination and implementation
science, and population health, as well as the Department of
Surgery’s core surgical clinical trials data coordinating
center.
Candidates
must be able to demonstrate 2 or more years of
experience in generating and leading new
clinical/population-based research studies; and have evidence
of successful multidisciplinary funding, preferably NIH, AHRQ,
PCORI or other equivalent federal, peer-reviewed agencies.
Research focus should be in epidemiology (including clinical
epidemiology, applied epidemiology and/or disease domain
epidemiologic research, including a focus on health services
research, big data analysis, comparative effectiveness
research, and/or surgical outcomes).
Candidates
must possess a Masters in Public Health (or equivalent), or a
PhD in epidemiology; a PhD is preferred. Teaching, research
and university service is required. The ability to manage and
support post-doctoral scholars and other trainees is expected.
All candidates must have the ability to work cooperatively and
collegially within a diverse environment.
Salary and
level of appointment will be based upon experience and
qualifications.
