Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the
University of Hawai‘i Cancer Center (UHCC), Cancer
Epidemiology Program, located in Honolulu, Hawai‘i.
Continuation of employment is dependent upon
program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance,
availability of funds, and compliance with applicable
Federal/State laws.
MONTHLY SALARY:
Salary commensurate with qualifications.
DUTIES:
Responsible for leading statistical data analyses of
epidemiologic data (including diet and anthropometric
variables) and molecular epidemiological data acquired from
ongoing epidemiological investigations in Multiethnic Cohort
participants and cohort consortia data with a focus on women’s
reproductive-related cancers (ovarian, endometrial and
breast). Performs statistical analysis of research data from
both cohort and case-control studies to evaluate factors
relating to cancer risk and survival. Writes manuscripts for
publication based on the results, presents findings in
professional forums and assists with grant writing and study
coordination. Works closely with study investigators, program
staff, programmers and biostatisticians to meet study goals.
PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION/TRAINING:
PhD, DrPH, or MD/MPH from an accredited college or university
in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or a related discipline.
EXPERIENCE: One to three (1-3)
years of experience in statistical analysis of complex
datasets, writing manuscripts for publication in high-impact
peer-reviewed scientific journals, and presenting at national
or international scientific conferences. Hands on experience
conducting molecular biological studies, preferred.
ABIL/KNOW/SKILLS: Knowledge of epidemiologic study
designs, and statistical analysis techniques for population
studies. Previous experience working on cancer, preferred.
Ability to think critically and creatively as part of a
fast-paced research team. Possession of proven manuscript
writing skills. Proficiency in statistical analysis using R,
SAS or Stata. Strong communication skills.
PHYSICAL/MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to lift and carry
up to twenty-five (25) pounds unassisted.

SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with research study data collection. Experience in
analyzing dietary and/or nutritional data for epidemiologic
studies. Knowledge of cancer biology and terminology.
