The University of Montana (UM) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Epidemiology to begin by January 2018. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching, research and service to support the graduate programs in the School of Public and Community Health Sciences (SPCHS) and is expected to advise students and serve on School and University Committees. Specific teaching responsibilities include classes focused on both in person and online general epidemiology as well as more specialized epidemiology classes within our Certificate of Public Health, Master of Public Health, and PhD in Public Health degree programs. The candidate will also be expected to develop and maintain a strong, funded research program related to public health to complement their teaching and service responsibilities.

• A PhD in Epidemiology, or related field.
• Track record of undergraduate and/or graduate teaching experience (with a focus in Epidemiology or related field).
• Demonstrated evidence of a successful, funded research program (with a focus in Epidemiology or related field).

Preferred Qualifications

• Post-doctoral experience.
• Potential to integrate with department faculty.
• Demonstrated ability and successful experience in working with culturally diverse students and colleagues.
• Experience with multiple research design approaches (quantitative, qualitative, participatory).
• Experience and/or interest in using online and innovative teaching methods.
• Exceptional leadership, interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
• Research experience in areas including, but not limited to, health disparities, reproductive, or infectious disease epidemiology.

Located in Missoula, Montana, the SPCHS is housed within the College of Health Professions and Biomedical Sciences (CHPBS). The Montana Board of Regents approved the creation of the SPCHS in 2005, with its first class of Master of Public Health (MPH) students enrolled during the Fall 2006. The SPCHS affords students three program opportunities: an online MPH, an online Certificate of Public Health (CPH), and a new, on-campus PhD in Public Health program. As of Spring 2017, 76 students are enrolled in the SPCHS, including 51 MPH students and 21 students pursuing the CPH option. Our first PhD cohort of four students started the program in Spring 2017. The MPH and PhD programs are accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH).
