Position Title:
Assistant/Associate Professor
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics in
conjunction with the Department of Occupational and
Environmental Health Sciences in the School of Community and
Rural Health at the University of Texas Health Science Center
(UTHSC) at Tyler/Health Northeast (UT Health NE) invites
applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position,
at the Assistant/Associate Professor level commensurate with
experience. The successful candidate will be expected to: 1)
develop and teach graduate coursework and mentor research
activities for masters level students and occupational
medicine residents in an MPH program including instruction in
occupational epidemiology; 2) develop a research platform that
focuses on occupationally-related distribution and
determinants of morbidity and mortality among the mental
health/behavioral health workforce; and 3) develop an active,
independent, extramurally-funded research program in
collaboration with other faculty and staff, supporting up to
30 percent of the candidate’s salary by the end of year three.
Collaboration with the Southwest Center for Agricultural
Health, Injury Prevention and Education is encouraged. The
anticipated start date is negotiable, but could begin as early
as possible.
Position Qualifications:
The candidate must possess a doctoral level degree in
epidemiology or a closely related field with demonstrated
experience in occupational epidemiology. Documented teaching
experience and a track record of competitive research funding
encouraged and will determine academic rank. Potential areas
of interest include mental health workforce,
environmental/occupational lung disease, agricultural health
and injury prevention, pediatric environmental health, and
cancer epidemiology.

Job Description:
The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics in the School
of Community and Rural Health at the
University of Texas Health Science Center (UTHSC) at Tyler/University
of Texas Health Northeast (UT Health NE), Texas, invites
applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the
Assistant/Associate Professor Rank (commensurate with
qualifications). We are looking for candidates with excellence
in teaching, research and dedication to train the next
generation of epidemiologists. The successful candidate is
expected to teach in the MPH degree program and other courses
offered by the School of Community and Rural Health. The
candidate will mentor and advise MPH students and serve on
thesis committees. We also expect the candidate to develop an
independent and collaborative research program. The
anticipated start date is negotiable, but could begin as early
as possible.
